Wrathful gods or other beings are those which exhibit anger, fierceness, or otherwise defensive and/or vengeful retribution in association with protection and boundary-making. They are often considered more difficult or advanced objects of ritual activity, may be placated or appeased as part of preliminary religious observance, and are psychologically associated with "difficult" emotions such as hatred, anger, fear, sorrow, and enmity.
